Do therapies and technological interventions work for students who are neurodivergent ?

Lets get it straight first of all , you do not have to have autism to be neurodivergent. As long as you are not neurotypical then you are neurodiverse. Neurodiversity cannot be a diagnosis. It is not a label like autism,ADHD or Downs syndrome. It is a social concept coined by sociologist Judy Singer in the 1990s.

All students need a sensory profile as soon as they enter school . This will help determine which therapy may help that persons inner world adapt to the outer world. I was consulted by a family recently who have a daughter with autism. We discussed her sensory profile and it would appear that she could benefit from vibroacoustic therapy. TacPac and Story Massage might also benefit her. Luckily she is only 5 yrs old. I have found ,in my many years of experience as a headteacher of a special school , that if therapies are delivered when children are very young then there is a good chance that you can avoid the need for drugs .

I recall having a student with ADHD with huge behavioural issues. These issues disappeared once we found that vibroacoustic therapy was his key to calming his inner world. I remember another student with ADHD with behaviour issues and Neurofeedback worked for him.
