As a special education teacher, I can say that
#musictherapy is not only underrated but also unfamiliar to most, even in the field of education, which is a bit ironic. Just as art changes the structure of the brain, music changes the neuro-structures that affect how we think, feel, and behave. In schools, music programs (and art programs) are too often viewed as a luxury and are often the first to be cut during budget cuts. In fact, academic performance would increase if schools prioritized music and art and recognized these “subjects” as a critical part of healthy brain development. Excellent read for parents and educators alike.
